The Faribault County Board approved several routine and election related items during its recent meeting.
Commissioners approved the county’s annual solid waste and recycling vehicle licensing, a state required process. In total, the county issued 12 solid waste licenses covering 76 vehicles and five recycling licenses covering 52 vehicles. The licensing generates $10 per vehicle in revenue.
The board also approved the purchase of nine new polling place “poll pad” election devices after officials learned the county’s current software is no longer compatible. The total cost is $4,028, with funding expected to come from a mis of grants and levy dollars. Two devices will be placed at the Faribault County Courthouse in Blue Earth, three others at Blue Earth polling locations, two in Wells and two in Winnebago.
In addition, Commissioners approved a resolution calling a special election to determine whether the Faribault County Recorder position should be appointed or elected. The vote passed 3-2. The special election is scheduled for April 14th, allowing the question to be decided before candidate filing deadlines for the regular election.
