The Fairmont City Council took steps Monday toward filling both and acting and permanent City Administrator position.
The council unanimously approved a resolution appointing Finance Director Paul Hoye as acting City Administrator on a temporary basis until an interim or permanent administrator is hired. The appointment includes a temporary 34% pay increase and does not change Hoye’s role as Finance Director. City officials noted the move will help stabilize operations after months without an administrator in place.
The council discussed two City Administrator candidates interviewed on Friday. One candidate was removed from consideration for not meeting minimum qualifications. The council voted to invite that candidate to apply for the City’s Community Development Director position.
The council also unanimously approved a comprehensive background check on the remaining City Administrator candidate for the possibility of hiring for the City Administrator position.
