An Elmore woman is facing felony and gross misdemeanor charges after allegedly making racially motivated threats toward a neighbor and his family.
According to a criminal complaint, a Faribault County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to a report of threats of violence at a residence in Elmore on January 3rd. The complainant told the deputy he was hosing social guests when his neighbor, 71 year old Gayle Eliane Jackson, began yelling racial slurs and shouting for him and his guests to “go back where they came from.”
The victim reported the woman rapped on her window from inside her residence while holding an object and threated to shoot him and his children, causing fear for their safety.
Jackson is charged with felony terroristic threats – reckless disregard for risk and gross misdemeanor fourth degree assault motivated by bias.
Prosecutors allege the actions were intended to cause fear of bodily harm and were motivated by the victim’s perceived race, color or ethnicity.
Jackson made her first court appearance before Judge Troy G. Timmerman, who set bail at $0 with conditions. Those conditions include remaining law-abiding, making all future court appearances, have no contact with the alleged victims, staying away from the victim’s residence and submitting to random testing while abstaining from alcohol and controlled substances.
