Minnesota’s minimum wage will increase to $11.41 per hour on January 1st, 2026.
The Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry says this adjustment accounts for a 2.5% inflation rate increase. For workers under 20, the 90 day training wage will rise to $9.31. However, Minneapolis and St. Paul maintain higher minimum wage ordinances.
Minnesota law mandates employers to display updated state mandated posters where employees can easily see them. Posters are free and only require updates when the law changes.
Employers must also provide a written notice to employees about any pay rate changes before they take effect. Additionally, new meal and rest break requirements will be implemented on January 1st, 2026. Employees must receive a paid 15 minute rest break for every four consecutive hours worked and an unpaid 30 minute meal break for shifts lasting six or more hours.
