The Granada Huntley East Chain School District is putting an $8.75 million bond on the ballot and it’s an effort that district leaders have been pushing for some time.
The new proposal is significantly larger than the one from 2022, which totaled just under $2 million.
If passed, the proposal would see expansions to the school’s technical education area and build two additional general use classrooms.
The school’s kitchen and cafeteria would be expanded and old locker rooms would be renovated to provide more useful space.
In all, the $8.75 million proposal would cost a $200 thousand residence around $7.88 per month and Minnesota’s Ag2School tax credit would mean that the state would pay a shore of the cost as well.
Overall, the state would cover 57% of the project, which would be $4,984,600 of the $8.745 million project.
Election Day for GHEC and all districts with referendums is November 4th and early voting is already open for precincts with ballot measures.
