A construction company with locations in southern Minnesota has announced the layoff of nearly 300 employees.
According to the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development, Minnesota Paving and Materials will close 14 locations and lay off 297 employees across central and southern Minnesota.
Those locations include Mankato, New Ulm, Kasota, Owatonna and Comfrey.
According to its website, Minnesota Paving and Materials evolved from four local companies into a leading provider of asphalt, aggregate and paving services across Minnesota.
The company has roots dating back to 1861.
According to DEED, the company’s last day in operation at those locations will be December 19th.
