Thanks to the dry days and cool nights over the past week, farmers are making progress on harvest.
Farm Management Analyst Kent Thiesse says soybean harvest is close to wrapping up across the Midwest.
Thiesse says the moisture content of much of the corn has dropped below 20%, which is a level producers like to see at harvest.
He added that if favorable drying weather continues in the coming week, it is likely that corn drying costs will be greatly reduced in 2025.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture normally publishes a weekly crop progress report each Monday, but due to the ongoing government shutdown, no reports have been released since the end of September.
