A rural Frost man was injured in a two vehicle accident in rural Bricelyn on Wednesday afternoon.
According to the Faribault County Sheriff’s Office at approximately 2:36pm,
A semi-tractor trailer driven by 73-year-old Arlen O’Brien of Bricelyn was traveling westbound on 50th St., with intentions to turn southbound on 510th Ave. A Chevy Silverado pulling a farm implement driven by 74-year-old Robert Hanson of rural Frost was traveling eastbound, when O’Brien turned southbound on 510th Ave. in front of Hanson, causing the crash.
O’Brien told deputies that he believed Hanson’s left-hand turn signal was activated when in fact, Hanson had his hazards activated while pulling the farm implement.
The crash also caused the fuel tanks on the semi-tractor trailer to leak a large amount of diesel fuel and the Blue Earth Fire Department was called for their Hazmat Trailer to clean up the fuel spill.
Hanson was taken by private vehicle to UHD in Blue Earth with non-life threatening injuries.
O’Brien was not hurt in the crash and was cited for Failure to Yield.
The Bricelyn Fire Department, Bricelyn Ambulance, Minnesota State Patrol and Blue Earth Fire Department assisted at the scene.
