The USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service released the crop progress report for Minnesota and Iowa for the week ending September 28th. Warm temperatures advanced crop maturity quickly. Fieldwork included the harvest of corn and soybeans.
Minnesota corn in the dent stage or beyond reached 95 percent. 62 percent of corn has matured. The corn for grain harvest was 5 percent complete. Corn condition was rated 73 percent good to excellent, a one percent decline from a week ago.
Nearly all the corn in Iowa was dented or beyond. Eighty percent of corn has matured. The corn for grain harvest was 15 percent complete. Moisture content of field corn being harvested for grain was 20 percent. Corn condition rated 71 percent good to excellent, a 3 percent drop from last week.
78 percent of Minnesota soybeans were dropping leaves. Soybean harvest was 22 percent complete. Soybean condition rated 73 percent good to excellent, a 1 percent decline from a week ago.
Iowa soybeans coloring was nearly complete at 95 percent. Eighty-three percent of soybeans were dropping leaves. Soybean harvest was 17 percent complete. Soybean condition rated 73 percent good to excellent, a 1 percent decline from last week.
