The Blue Earth City Council met for a work session and regular city council meeting on Monday.
During the work session, they reviewed the proposed 2026 preliminary budget and then during the regular meeting approved the preliminary budget for a total of $3.5 million, with the general/operating levy set at $1,265,000 and the debt levy of $2,235,000.
The preliminary number can not increase and the Council will be working over the next few months to lower the $3.5 million amount.
A budgetary meeting will be conducted for public discussion and input on the levy on December 1st, at 5pm, in the City Council Chambers for the purpose of providing an opportunity for citizen education and discussion concerning the 2026 levy and budget.
