A revised Rapidan Dam plan could save $30 million by not reinforcing the river channel.
The last time the Blue Earth County Board met, there were concerns over the price tag of removing the dam and replacing the bridge, which raised the question of whether the bridge was worth replacing at all.
Since then the plan has been reworked and Tuesday the board was presented with a revised plan that will see significant savings over the previous plan by not enforcing the riverbed.
Dam removal will also be aided by funds from FEMA, the talk with which are also progressing and it won’t be long until all the numbers are finally known.
