The USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service released the crop progress report for Minnesota and Iowa for the week ending August 17th. Field activities included harvesting oats and hay and reports of fungicide and insecticide applications.
Minnesota corn silking reached 97%, with 62% of the corn reaching the dough stage and corn in the dent stage reached 14%. Corn condition was rated 75% good to excellent, the same as a week ago.
Nearly all of Iowa’s corn has reached the silking state. Corn in the dough stage reached 78% and corn in the dent stage was at 27%. Corn condition was rated 86% good to excellent, a 1% increase from last week.
Minnesota soybeans blooming reached 97% and soybeans setting pods was at 84%. Soybean condition was rated at 74% good to excellent, a 1% increase from last week.
Soybeans in Iowa blooming reached 96%, with 83% of soybeans setting pods. Soybean condition was rated at 82% good to excellent, a 2% improvement from last week.
