Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation (SMIF) has announced the appointment of four new members from Blue Earth, Waseca, Harmony and Albert Lea to its Board of Trustees, with their terms beginning in July.
Mary Athey, Manager – Municipal Advisory at Baker Tilly, joins the board with extensive experience in economic development. Her previous roles with Community Economic Development Associates and as City Administrator in Blue Earth have provided her with first hand insight into the challenges and opportunities faced by small towns.
Ann Staloch, a dedicated community leader and President of the Waseca Economic Development Authority, brings a diverse background in nonprofit governance, small business support, and youth empowerment.
Greg Schieber, Owner and Attorney at Nethercut Schieber PA in Harmony, adds legal and small business expertise to the board. Having returned to his southeast Minnesota roots after law school, Greg has focused his practice on real estate, estate planning, business planning and tax preparation and planning.
Kim Nelson, MPNA, Dean of Academic Affairs for Construction Trades, Transportation & Manufacturing and Campus Director at Riverland Community College in Albert Lea, brings a strong background in education and nonprofit leadership.
SMIF says “These individuals bring a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to fostering economic development, Early Childhood development, and community vitality across southern Minnesota.”
