The USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service released the crop progress report for Minnesota and Iowa for the week ending May 25th.
Corn planting in Minnesota was 97% complete, reaching that level 10 days sooner than 2024 and 10 days sooner than the five year average. Seventy eight percent of the 2025 corn crop had emerged, putting emergence one week ahead of average. Corn condition was rated 69% good to excellent.
Iowa corn planted reached 95% complete, with 76% of corn had emerged, 6 days ahead of last year’s pace and 2 days ahead of normal. Corn condition rated 83% good to excellent.
Soybeans in Minnesota were 91% planted, about 13 days earlier than average and 19 days ahead of 2024. At 56%, soybean emergence was about six days ahead of the five year average.
In Iowa, 92% of the expected soybean crop in Iowa has been planted, just over 2 weeks ahead of last year and 8 days ahead of the five year average. Soybeans emerged reached 60%, 8 days ahead of last year and 4 days ahead of average. Soybean condition was rated 80% good to excellent.
