Drought conditions have improved across Iowa despite below normal rainfall in April, according to the latest Weather Summary Update.
After a wetter than normal March, April saw below average precipitation across all regions of the state. However, recent spring rains have helped alleviate drought and abnormally dry conditions across Iowa.
All of Emmet and Dickinson counties, along with most of Clay, Kossuth and Palo Alto counties remain in the abnormally dry category. The west central portion of Clay County is in the moderate drought category, while the southern third of Kossuth County and the southeast corner of Palo Alto County currently have no drought designation.
