Funds are now available to Minnesota veterans affected by natural disasters, such as flooding earlier this summer. The $500 grants are not based on financial status.
The benefits are being made available as the result of a declared emergency and the governor’s issuance of an emergency executive order authorizing the commission of the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs to provide the benefits.
Items eligible for reimbursement are determined by the agency. The grant will end November 20th, or earlier if the funds are depleted.
All reconstruction work must be completed by August 25th, 2025. The reimbursement amount may be paid to the contractor that did the repairs or directly to the vet.
