The Blue Earth City Council is moving forward with a sealed bid sale of the city owned home at 1006 East Fifth Street. The council set a minimum bid of $15,0000 for the property, which is in need of repairs but is not slated for demolition. Sealed bid will be advertised and accepted at City Hall through April 1st, with the council scheduled to review them at its April 6th meeting. The extended timeline is intended to give local contractors time to evaluate the property before submitting bids.
The council also discussed potential changes to senior lunch charges at the Blue Earth Senior Center. Currently, meals cost $4 for dine in and $6.50 for takeout. One option under consideration would be a flat $5 fee for all meals, whether eaten at the Center or taken to go. City Administrator Dawn Collins was directed to gather usage data to determine the budget impact. The Senior Board is expected to review the proposal later this month and a change could take effect this year if costs remain neutral.
