The Blue Earth City Council reviewed proposed street designs for the Linton Street Project during its first regular meeting of February.
City Engineer Ben Rosso presented concepts for 6th, 7th, and 8th. For both 6th and 7th Streets, the street committee recommended narrowing the roadway to 27 feet, instead of the city’s typical 36 feet, due to driveway access and existing road constraints. The council agreed with the recommendation.
Design plans for 8th Street, between Nicollet and Main Street, would keep the roadway approximately 56 feet wide near Main Street and narrow to about 46 feet on the west end to allow for parking.
Council members also discussed winter maintenance and emergency vehicle access as part of the planning process.
