There’s a lot happening year around at area Farm Service Agency offices, even during the winter months. Faribault County FSA Executive Director Nicki Miranowski says this is actually one of the busiest times, as producers prepare for the 2026 crop year by updating their farm records.
Participation in FSA programs is voluntary and Miranowski says it’s the producer’s responsibility to make sure ownership and operator information is current. Deeds, trusts and estate changes are not automatically shared with the FSA office.
Producers should also submit cash rental agreements for any new ground they are farming. Miranowski notes lease payment amounts can be redacted.
She says updating records now helps ensure producers remain eligible for FSA programs in the coming crop year.
Producers are encouraged to contact their local FSA office with any questions.
