The Fairmont City Council held a special meeting Friday to interview two candidates for City Administrator: Jason Baker and Tiffany Duboski Ledee.
The city has been without a full time City Administrator since November 2024 and without an interim administrator since November 2025. Both candidates expressed interest in the position even though it is not currently being advertised. The council last interviewed candidates in September 2025, but none moved forward.
Baker is the current City Administrator in Oronoco, while Ledee most recently served as Community Development Director in Windom. Human Resources Director Rachel Viesselman led the interviews using questions selected by the council, with a focus on budgeting, leadership and communication.
Baker emphasized consistency, collaboration and his law enforcement background. He said effective communication and long range planning are key to managing budgets and addressing infrastructure needs, including road funding and zoning updates. Baker also acknowledged Fairmont’s recent leadership turnover, saying it would take time to fully learn the organization.
Ledee highlighted collaboration, community engagement and transparency as her strengths. She cited experience using clear public communication to counter misinformation and said she brings strong grant writing skills to support city finances. Ledee said building relationships and setting clear expectations are essential to creating a stable, high performing work environment.
Following the interviews, the council voted unanimously to continue discussion of the candidates at its regular meeting Monday evening.
