The Blue Earth City Council discussed ongoing issues Monday with vehicles remaining on parked streets during snow emergencies, which officials say continues to hinder snow removal operations.
City officials reported that while Public Works crews have been effective in clearing streets this winter, park vehicles during declared snow emergencies remain a consistent obstacle. City code requires vehicles to be moved as soon as a snow emergency is declared. Failure to do so constitutes an initial warning, while a vehicle still parked on the street the following morning should result in a citation.
Council members acknowledged the issue as a recurring winter problem and expressed support for enforcing existing regulations. It was noted that repeated warnings without citations reduce compliance and the city may consider ordinance updates to better align enforcement with current code.
