A Winnebago man has been charged with felony domestic assault after allegedly climbing onto the hood of a vehicle and pounding on the windshield to stop a woman and her children from fleeing a residence.
Police say the incident occurred December 26th, at around 5:55pm, after 35 year old Gerald Douglas Simpson became aggressive following alcohol consumption. One of the children reportedly told officers she was terrified as Simpson tried to break the vehicle’s window.
Court records indicate Simpson has four prior domestic violence related convictions over the last ten years. Bail was set at $20,000 without conditions, or $5,000 non cash/$500 cash with conditions.
