The City of Blue Earth is receiving $20,000 from the Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation as part of SMIF’s 2025 Economic Development Grant Program.
The funding will help sustain dedicated staff capacity withing the Blue Earth Rural Entrepreneurial Venture (REV) program. City officials say the support will allow continued coordination of local business initiatives, assistance to entrepreneurs and strengthened partnerships aimed at building long term economic resilience in Blue Earth and the surrounding region.
SMIF recently approved six grants totaling $99,865 across its 20 county service area to support economic development and entrepreneurship initiatives, with a particular focus on helping small communities better withstand economic challenges.
In addition to Blue Earth, grants were awarded to communities in Henderson, Preston, Winthrop, Northfield and Rochester.
