The Faribault County Board of Commissioners met Tuesday afternoon to address several county matters, including employee milestones, budget approvals and new hires.
The board recognized Dennis Wick, shop foreman for the highway department, for 10 years of service with the county.
In Public Works updates, commissioners approved spending unspent funds from 2022 and 2025 for tandem truck equipment, following delays during the pandemic. Most 2025 Public Works projects are now complete, with only winter paving and gravel work remaining.
The board renewed a contract with CEDA, a Southern Minnesota organization that assists with grants and economic development programs, at a cost of $92,000 annually. ADA specialist Kendra Renicking will continue working four days a week through the contract.
Salary adjustments were approved, giving a 3% cost of living increase for elected officials and county employees, including non union staff.
New Recorder Kelly Hendrickson requested temporary staffing assistance for her office due to current understaffing. The board approved using dedicated office funds, with no impact on the county levy.
Human Resources also introduced a new hire in the Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Mike Sharp, who was selected from a pool of eight candidates.
Finally, commissioners approved a gambling permit for Pheasants Forever, which plans to host a fundraising bingo event at the Golden Bubble, south of Wells, on February 28th.
