Write in votes have now been tabulated from Tuesday’s city elections in Kossuth County.
In Bancroft, a write in candidate was needed in their city council race as 3 seats on the council were up for election, with only Randy Greve and James Looft on the ballot.
Looft received 76 votes on Tuesday, enough to secure a spot on the council, but it appears that Greve has been topped by two write in candidates.
Greve received 35 votes on Tuesday, while Tim Goche received 55 write in votes and Carol Bernhard got 36, meaning they would join the council and Greve would be left out if these tallies become official. All numbers are considered unofficial until they are canvassed by the Kossuth County Board of Supervisors.
In Fenton, 3 write in candidates were needed to fill seats on the city council. Daniel Ulfers received 40 votes, Lisa Talbott got 37 and Andrea Isebrand had 33 to take those council slots.
In Lakota, one write in candidate was needed to fill the 3rd seat up for election. Tanner Weringa and Brittany Price were on the ballot and secured spots on Tuesday. They will be joined by Paul Hagedorn, who received 21 write in votes to win the open spot.
In Ledyard, Jeremy Thompson was the only name on the ballot for a pair of full four year terms on the city council. Thompson received 26 votes to take one of the east, while Royce Valvick got 17 of the 18 write in votes to grab the second spot.
In Titonka, Katie Prothman received 51 votes to secure one of the two seats on the city council that were up for grabs, as she was the only name on the ballot. Tyler Smith won the other seat by receiving 40 of the 43 write in votes cast.
