The Faribault County Board of Commissioners met on Tuesday and were presented by Lori Buffington of Great River Energy and Rod Prichard of ITC Midwest about a proposed transmission line that would most likely run across the northern part of Faribault County.
Commissioner Greg Young says it’s a major project that aims to make the power more reliable by running new power lines from Brookings, South Dakota, to a substation near Lakefield, and to another substation near Pleasant Valley, south of Rochester and eventually up to the Twin Cities.
The actual construction of the proposed line would take place between 2030 and 2034.
An information open house about the proposed project will be held at the Nasinec Event Center in Wells on Tuesday, November 11th, from 10am to noon.
