The USDA’s National Agricultural Statistic Service released the crop progress report for Minnesota and Iowa for the week ending September 21st. Warm temperatures advanced crop maturity quickly. Fieldwork included the beginning of corn and soybean harvest in areas.
In Minnesota, corn in the dent stage reached 88% and 43% of corn has matured. Corn condition was rated 74% good to excellent, a one percent decline from a week ago.
Corn in Iowa was 95% dented or beyond, with 66% of corn mature. The corn for grain harvest has begun and was 8% complete. Corn condition was rated 74% good to excellent, a 5% drop from last week.
Forty six percent of Minnesota’s soybeans were dropping leaves. Soybean condition was rated 74% good to excellent, the same as a week ago.
Iowa soybeans coloring advanced to 89%, with 62% of soybeans dropping leaves. Soybean condition was rated 74% good to excellent, a 1% decline from last week.
