There will be a handful of contested races across Kossuth county in November’s City and School Board elections.
In Algona, Mayor Rick Murphy is running unopposed for another 2 year term, while there is one contested race for City Council. Incumbent Rodney Davis is being challenged by Carl Westling for the Ward 1 council seat.
In Bancroft, Randy Greve and Jaimes Looft are the two names on the ballot for 3 spots on the city council.
In Burt, Randy Wood is the only name on the ballot for Mayor, while there are 4 people seeking 2 spots on the city council; Connie Kadow, Richard Ricther, Harlod Lavrenz and Christopher Myhre are seeking those seats.
In Lakota, Tanner Weringa and Brittany Price are on the ballot for 3 seats on the city council.
In Ledyard, Mayor Robert Gilbertson is unopposed in his bid for reelection, while Jeremy Thmpson is the only candidate for two separate 4 year terms on the city council. John Ternes is the only name on the ballot to fill the final two years of a vacant seat.
In Lone Rock, Gerald Thompson and Nicholas Harmon are on the ballot for Mayor.
Swea City has contested races for Mayor and City Council. Troy Langford will challenge incumbent Wendy Zielske for Mayor, while 5 people are seeking 2 seats on the city council. Incumbent Randy Perdue is on the ballot along with Tyler Potter, Deb Johnson, Andy Donnelly and Sara Dale Anderson for the 2 council seats.
In Titonka, incumbent Katie Prothman is the only name on the ballot for 2 spots on the city council.
Phil Albers and Megan Heetland are both seeing reelection to the North Kossuth School Board, while a write in candidate will be needed to fill the 3rd seat up for election.
