The USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service released the Crop Progress Report for Minnesota and Iowa for the week ending August 24th.
The week started with warm temperatures but closed with much cooler weekend weather. Field activities included harvesting oats and hay. Reports noted increasing levels of disease in field crops.
In Minnesota 80% of corn has reached the dough stage. Corn in the dent stage reached 28% and corn condition was rated 76% good to excellent, 1% better than a week ago.
Iowa corn in the dough stage reached 88%. Corn in the dent stage reached 45% and corn condition was rated 84% good to excellent, a 2% decline from last week.
Minnesota soybeans setting pods was at 93%, with soybean condition rated at 74% good to excellent, the same as a week ago.
Iowa soybeans were 98% setting pods. Soybeans coloring reached 8% and soybean condition was rated 79Z% good to excellent, a 3% decline from last week.
