The USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service released the Crop Progress report for Minnesota and Iowa for the week ending July 20th. Field activities during the week included fungicide spraying, cutting hay and harvesting oats.
Minnesota corn silking reached 44 percent, 4 days behind the 5 year average, 2% of corn has reached dough stage across the state, 1 day behind both a year ago and the 5 year average and corn condition was rated 77% good to excellent, a 3% increase from a week ago.
Corn silking in Iowa reached 62%, 1 day behind last year, but a day ahead of normal, 18% of Iowa’s corn reached the dough stage and corn condition was rated 86% good to excellent, a 1% improvement from last week.
Minnesota soybeans blooming reached 60%, 1 day ahead of last year. Soybeans setting pods was at 22%, 2 days behind average. Soybean condition was rated 75% good to excellent, the same as a week ago.
Soybeans in Iowa blooming reached 69%, 1 day ahead of last year but 1 day behind normal, 38% of soybeans were setting pods, 4 days ahead of last year and 2 day ahead of the five year average and soybean condition was rated 80% good to excellent, a 1% increast from last week.
