A Wells man is facing multiple felony drug charges after a traffic stop led to the discovery of fentanyl, methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Forty nine year old Roel Gallardo was charged in Faribault County District Court with two felony counts of related to the possession and sale of methamphetamine and cocaine following a stop on a gravel road outside of Wells at around 11pm on Sunday, July 13th.
According to the criminal complaint, a Faribault County Sheriff’s Deputy stopped a 2004 GMC pickup after observing it driving in the roadway, failing to stop immediately and non functioning license plate lights.
The vehicle was registered to a deceased individual, Alan Knutson.
Deputies had received tips indicating that Gallardo had been driving the vehicle.
During the stop, deputies noted signs of possible drug activity, including a tampered door panel and the presence of a butane lighter.
Gallardo declined to consent to a vehicle search and a K9 unit was deployed.
The K9 gave a positive alert to the presence of narcotics and a following search uncovered a plastic bag containing a blue-white powder in a cup, which field tested positive for fentanyl.
