Minnesota’s employment level, unemployment rate and labor force were stable in June, with metrics unchanged over the month, according to new data from the Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED).
Minnesota lost 800 jobs in June, effectively flat and the unemployment rate was unchanged at 3.3%. More than 2,100 Minnesotans joined the labor force, continuing the state’s strong streak of labor force gains in 10 out of the last 12 months and the labor force participation rate was also unchanged at 68.2%.
In June, Iowa saw an increase of 3,900 individuals entering the labor force, marking the second consecutive month of growth, according to Iowa Workforce Development.
This growth raised the state’s labor force participation rate to 67.4%, up from 67.3% in May. Despite the increase in workforce participation, Iowa unemployment rate edged up slightly to 3.7% in June from 3.6% in May.
All figures continue to compare favorably to the United States as a whole, as the nation’s unemployment rate is 4.1% and the labor force participation rate is 62.3%.
