Mapleton Economic Development Authority has been awarded a $39,173 grant to help address the town’s urgent child care needs. Grant funds will be used for a first of its kind child care building for the community.
Representatives from T-Mobile’s Hometown Grant Program presented a check to the city on Wednesday at the future site of the child care, 209 S.E. Fourth Ave. This Child Care House building, from Business of Child Care, is billed as a turnkey solution that combines a physical site with startup support to expand local child care services.
Mapleton is one of 25 grant recipients throughout the country selected this round. It’s EDA submission is one of eight by cities in Minnesota that have been accepted.
Since 2021, T-Mobile has invested nearly $18 million in Hometown Grants to 400 communities across 48 states and Puerto Rico.
