The Blue Earth City Council met Monday and one of the items that was added to the agenda was whether or not a Police Officer was necessary to be at the meetings anymore.
During the discussion it was determined that an officer would no longer be required as the majority of the council felt safe in the chambers in the new City Hall building, as it has multiple exits, cameras and a panic button in case of any emergency, unlike the old chambers, which only had one entrance/exit point and did not have any security features. The motion passed on a 6-1 vote.
The council also approved the Faribault County Fitness Center’s request for a slight increase for personal training fees and to purchase a second Nustep bike.
The next meeting for the Blue Earth City Council will be held Monday, June 2nd, at 5pm.
