Alcohol was a factor in a head on collision Saturday afternoon on Interstate 90, near Albert Lea, that resulted in the injuries of four people.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, 36 year old Nyaroup Jocklaw Jal, of Albert Lea, was driving a 2019 Chevrolet Equinox westbound in the eastbound lane on the interstate and 55 year old Christine Jo Bennet, of Mountain Lake, was driving a 2023 Toyota Tundra, with her two passengers eastbound when the two vehicle collided head on at 3:17pm, near mile marker 159. The report stated that all occupants were wearing their seatbelts and alcohol was a factor for Jal.
Christine Bennet and 63 year old Stanley Harold Bennet, also of Mountain Lake, were taken by Ambulance to Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea. Twenty Year old John Daniel Bennet, of Mountain Lake, was taken by ambulance to St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester and Jal was injured but not treated at a hospital.
The Albert Lea Police Department, Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office, Clark’s Grove Fire Department, Albert Lea Fire Department, Mayo Ambulance and Mayo Air assisted at the scene.
