A Martin County man implicated in a home invasion in Blue Earth County in August 2023 will serve a staggered jail sentence.
Forty three year old Benjamin John Rosa, formerly of Fairmont and currently listed as living in Welcome, was convicted on a first degree burglary charge Wednesday in Blue Earth County District Court.
Rosa was charged after a man told investigators that Rosa came into his home, assaulted him and stole his truck on August 22nd, according to a criminal complaint. The man received treatment at a hospital afterward.
Law enforcement officers reported finding the truck at the bottom of a steep embankment, followed by finding Rosa in another vehicle on another property. Earlier in the day, a friend of Rosa’s called law enforcement expressing concern for him.
Rosa’s staggered sentence will last 180 days in total, according to a sentencing order, minus six days credited to him for time served. He may serve part of the time in the Faribault County Jail.
A 48 month prison sentence will be stayed for five years while he serves on supervised probation. He will also perform 10 days of community service as part of the sentence.
