Repairs to the Highway 14 bridge over Highway 22 in Mankato that was struck and damaged by a commercial vehicle in January are expected to begin Thursday, August 8th, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation. Motorists can expect traffic delays, especially during peak travel times.
Repairs to the bridge will include the replacement of the bridge fascia bean and portions of the bridge rail and deck.
Northbound Highway 22 at Highway 14 will be closed during construction and traffic will be detoured to Highway 14 via Blue Earth County Road 12 and Blue Earth County Road 26. Additionally, the right lane and shoulder across the eastbound Highway 14 bridge over Highway 22 will be closed until repairs are complete. Northbound Highway 22 traffic is currently reduced to one lane from Adams Street to North Victory Drive in preparation for construction.
Repairs are expected to be complete in early October. All construction activities and traffic impacts are weather dependent and subject to change. MnDOT urges motorists to be attentive and drive with caution in work zones where workers are present.
