B.E. Council Moving Forward With Animal Control for the City

The Blue City Council met Monday evening and in addition to regular agenda items, the Council reviewed and discussed a draft proposal for the city’s animal control.  City Administrator Mary Kennedy reported that she has been attempting to connect with the Faribault County Humane Society regarding the proposal but has yet to receive a response.

After significant discussion regarding the city’s animal control needs and the draft proposal, the Council decided to move forward with posting the RFP for bids and asking the Humane Society to attend the Council’s May work session, in an effort to obtain information and ascertain their interest.

Kennedy also provided a review of the Minnesota Public Safety PTSD League supported legislation.  The legislation is an effort to adequately equip law enforcement officials with fully comprehensive mental health resources.  After brief discussion, the Council voted to pass a resolution in support of the legislation which will be sent to the state legislators.
