Blue Earth Council Meets for the First Time in 2022

The Blue Earth City Council met last night for their first meeting of 2022,  In addition to the approval of 5 council meeting date changes due to holidays, the council also approved the Blue Earth Fire Department elections of Steve Brown as Chief and Jim Wirkus as Captain.

City Administrator Mary Kennedy noted that as of the November 5th cutoff date, the city employed less than 100 people, thus exempting the city from instituting mandatory COVID-19 vaccine and testing requirements at this time.

The Council approved 2 purchase agreements with Jim Lasinski and Mike Fox for 2 lots on Bluestem Drive for a total of $35,000.

During the next scheduled meeting on January 18th, the council will have a 2nd reading of a proposed amendment to the zoning code and hold public hearings for the zoning code and an enforcement hearing for a noncompliant structure on the Matthew Bartz property.

There were no changes to board or commission assignments.
