Winnebago County Sheriff’s Deputy on Leave After a Shooting in Thompson

A Winnebago County Sheriff’s Deputy has been placed on administrative leave after an officer involved shooting following a misleading call.

 

At around 7pm Saturday, the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office received a call of an alleged assault in Thompson.  When deputies arrived at the scene, they determined the call was a ruse to bring law enforcement to the area.

 

According to the Sheriff’s Office, there was an officer involved shooting, but no other details were released.  The Officer involved has been placed on administrative leave in accordance with the Sheriff’s Office Policy.
