MN Lawmakers Working to Pass Budget Bills Before July 1st Deadline

The Minnesota Legislature has been meeting in a special session at the State Capitol after lawmakers earlier failed to reach a compromise on a proposed budget while in regular session.

House Representative Bjorn Olson, of Elmore, says lawmakers have been reluctant to give ground from all perspectives in reaching a compromise.

Olson noted previously that not one budget bill within any area of state government was approved before lawmakers were required to adjourn the regular session.  As a result, every bill on the table must now be passed before July 1st in order to avoid a state government shutdown.
