Gov. Walz to Sign Order to End Mask Mandate in MN on Friday

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz says the state will allow people to not wear their masks meant to slow the spread of COVID-19.  The announcement followed a new federal recommendation on face coverings.

Walz says he would sign executive orders on Friday ending the mask mandate he enacted by emergency authority in July of last year.

State Health Commissioner Jan Malcolm says the state has about 61% of the population is fully vaccinated and “that’s not nearly enough to hold back the virus.”

She adds the good news is that the new CDC guidance shows that vaccinations are working.
