Minnesotans are facing a substantial increase in their energy bills as a result of the weather crisis that hammered supplies in the south.
Historic cold hit the central U.S. earlier this month and that caused energy facilities to freeze.
At the same time, Minnesota saw temperatures plunge to 20 – 30 below zero and that sparked a spike in demands for natural gas across the country, driving up the price.
The PUC and Department of Commerce voted on Tuesday to launch a formal investigation into the impact of the increase in natural gas prices on Minnesota customers.
