Faribault County K-9 Officer Zeus and Handler Officer Gehrking Receive Awards in Fargo

Faribault County K-9 Officer Zeus and his handler Officer Brittney Gehrking attended the West Fargo Regional Detector Dog Certification Trials last weekend.

 

The event is hosted by the United States Police Canine Association.  The association is one of three that Zeus and Gehrking are certified in.

 

There were 38 K-9 teams from around the region that attended the trials.  The certification consists of 3 room searches and 5 vehicle searches, which are timed events.  Trophies are given out to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers in both categories and 1st place for the best score and overall time.

 

Brittney and Zeus got a 1st place trophy for the fastest time and a perfect score of 100 in the search portion of the certification and overall, Zeus found all 4 narcotics hides and got recertified in narcotics detection thour the USPCA.

 

Overall, the two officers scored 193 points out of a possible 200 points at the competition.
