The Minnesota State Patrol and the Faribault County Sheriff’s Department reports it was a safe Thanksgiving holiday weekend in Faribault County with no fatal or serious injury accidents reported.
Motorists are reminded that Law Enforcement Agencies across Minnesota will be stepping up DWI enforcement now through the end of the year. About 300 agencies statewide, including the Faribault County Sheriff’s Department and the State Patrol, will be participating in the extra enforcement effort.
Eighteen Minnesota Agencies have received funds for a dedicated DWI Officer from the Office of Traffic Safety. In the past five year, 126,000 people have been arrested for DWI in Minnesota, 12,000 of those happened during the holiday season.
Law Enforcement Officials encourage those who are planning on celebrating during the holiday’s to prepare by selecting a designated driver or arranging a ride home prior to the celebrations. A little preplanning could save you the cost of dealing with a DWI.
