Drier Conditions Helping Farmers Move Forward With Harvest

Drier conditions helped move the harvest forward in Minnesota last week as there were 5.7 days suitable for fieldwork across the state.

 

Nicky Miranowski, Director of the Faribault County FSA Office said that farmers have made good progress on the harvest last week, with soybeans almost completely complete.

 

The USDA said that as of Sunday, 44% of the state’s corn crop had been harvested, 11 days behind average and 80% of the soybeans have been harvested, 8 days behind last year and 2 weeks behind average.

 

In Iowa, the USDA says there were 4.4 days suitable for fieldwork.

 

As of Sunday, 43% of Iowa’s corn crop had been harvested, 8 days behind last year and 11 days behind the five year average and 80% of the state’s soybeans have been harvested, 3 days behind last year and 7 days behind average.
