The filing period for applicants for the Assistant Principal position at the Blue Earth Area School District closed last Friday.
Interim Superintendent Dr. Jerry Jensen said that the District received a total of 18 applications for the position.
The preliminary phase of the search is underway and that will narrow down the candidates list to those who will receive a face to face interview.
The District is hoping to begin the face to face interviews next week and hoping to have a finalist for the School Board to decide on at their meeting on July 15th.
Last month, the Board approved moving David Dressler into the position of K-7 Principal following the resignation of Melissa McGuire. That move opened up the Assistant Principal position.
Jensen added that the District has already filled several teaching positions but still has a couple positions left to fill.
