Elmore Man Charged For Allegedly Kidnapping, Sexually Assaulting and Stabbing Woman

A Faribault County man allegedly held a woman captive while he raped, beat, choked and stabbed her.


Fifty-three year old Michael Hinton, of Elmore, was charged with 7 felony counts including kidnapping, criminal sexual conduct and assault in Faribault County District Court.


A woman told authorities Hinton held her in his home while he assaulted and threatened her.


The woman said she spent the night with Hinton, but when she tried to leave, he handcuffed and gagged her and dismantled her cellphone.  Hinton allegedly sexually assaulted her and cut her.


Hinton also allegedly choked her until she lost consciousness, the stabbed her and hit her in the face with a pipewrench.


According to the criminal complaint, the woman had stab wounds and rug burn on her leg, cuts on her fingers, bruising and a cut on her head when she was taken to the Blue Earth hospital.


Inside Hinton’s residence, investigators reportedly found leg irons, handcuffs, knives, a pipewrench and bloody clothing and towels.


Hinton remains in the Faribault County Jail awaiting his next court appearance which is scheduled for April 29th.
