County Commissioners Receive an Update on Proposed Transportation Plan, Approve Vehicle Purchases

On Tuesday, the Faribault County Commissioners received an update from County Engineer Mark Daly on the governor’s transportation proposal.

The Governor’s proposed plan would increase the gas tax, registration tax, motor vehicle sales tax and shift the auto parts sales tax back to the general fund.  Starting in 2020 and continuing through 2023, the new revenue to the County would be about $6 million.

The Board was informed that the Sheriff has appointed Tom Elmer to serve as the Security Officer at the Courthouse and hired Emily Langford as a full time jailer.

The Commissioners also agreed to buy a Bobcat skid steer loader from Yeager Implement for $58,700, agreed to buy an all wheel drive, seven passenger vehicle from Midway Ford in Roseville for $30,385 for the Veteran’s Service Office and approved the purchase of a new tandem truck and snow plow through a state contract.
