Icy Roads, Skid Loader Bids Among Topic Discussed at County Board Meeting

The Faribault County Commissioners on Tuesday discussed road conditions across the County.

County Engineer Mark Daly explained that weather conditions are making it difficult to remove the ice from the roads.

Daly reported that road salt only works when the temperature is above 15 degree and that sunshine and sustained warmer temperatures are needed to get the roads completely clear.

The Commissioners considered two bids for a new skid loader for the Public Works Department, but took no action.  The Board will meet with some of the Public Works Employees on February 19th to hear their input before making a decision.

Central Services Director Dawn Fellows reported to the Board that the contract with the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees was signed on January 28th, retroactive to January 1st.  It was the final union contract to be settled.

Board Members also approved the Faribault County Register as the County’s Official Newspaper and reappointed Yvonne Cory to the HRA Board.
